Steinhart Aquatic Center Rules & Guidelines
Please review and follow these rules to keep everyone safe and ensure a fun swimming season!
1. No running on the pool deck.
Why: Wet surfaces are slippery and running increases the risk of slips and falls.
2. No diving in shallow areas.
Why: Diving into shallow water can lead to serious head or neck injuries.
3. Children under 10 must be supervised by an adult.
Why: Adult supervision helps prevent accidents and ensures quick help if needed.
4. Shower before entering the pool.
Why: Rinsing off helps keep the pool clean and reduces the spread of germs.
5. No food or glass containers near the pool.
Why: Glass can break and cause injuries; food attracts pests and can dirty the water.
6. Swim diapers required for non-potty-trained children.
Why: This helps prevent contamination and keeps the pool safe for all swimmers.
7. No roughhousing, pushing, or throwing children into the water.
Why: These actions can lead to injuries, panic, or unsafe situations in the pool.
8. Respect lifeguards and follow their instructions.
Why: Lifeguards are trained for your safety and must be able to enforce rules quickly.
9. No alcohol or drugs allowed.
Why: These impair judgment and reaction time, which increases the risk of accidents.
10. Keep noise to a reasonable level.
Why: Loud noise can disrupt others and make it hard for lifeguards to communicate.

Slide & Diving Board Safety Rules
11. Big slides are for one person at a time—no exceptions.
Why: Allowing only one person at a time prevents collisions and injuries.
12. Parents are not allowed to take small children down the big slides.
Why: The slides are designed for single riders; tandem use increases risk of injury.
13. There is a height requirement for the big slides.
Why: This ensures riders are physically able to use the slides safely.
14. No flotation devices of any kind are allowed on the diving boards or big slides.
Why: Flotation devices can interfere with balance and cause accidents on slides and boards.
15. Parents are not allowed to catch their child on the diving boards or any slides—except for the toddler treehouse slide.
Why: Catching can create dangerous situations in the water and interfere with the flow of other users. The toddler slide is designed with catching in mind for safety.
16. Family slides are life jacket friendly, but kids must go with an adult.
Why: An adult must assist the child to the side quickly to avoid them being struck by the next rider.

Lazy River Rules
17. Only one person per tube.
Why: Tubes are designed for single use to ensure balance and safety in the current.
18. Adults may walk alongside their children in the lazy river.
Why: This helps younger kids feel safe while keeping traffic in the river flowing smoothly.
19. Children must be in a tube at all times while in the river.
Why: Staying in a tube keeps kids safe and ensures they stay afloat in the moving water.
20. All river users must use the facility’s clear tubes.
Why: Clear tubes allow lifeguards to clearly see all swimmers and respond quickly if needed.
